Difference between sperm concentration and sperm count

Sperm concentration and sperm count are sub topics of semen analysis test. Semen analysis test evaluates the features of semen fluid and sperm cells to identify problems in male fertility. Sperm concentration may also called sperm count but it is a different definition from total sperm count.

Sperm count is also called total sperm count means the total sperm cell number in the whole semen sample. Sperm concentration defines the sperm cell number per semen fluid milliliter. Normal value of sperm concentration is accepted as at least 15 million sperm cells per semen fluid mL according to WHO. Total sperm count is calculated by multipliying the sperm concentration with semen volume.
